Parks, RCS Long-Range Plan

Collage of Lakewood parks and recreation offerings

The City of Lakewood is developing its first Parks, Recreation and Community Services Long-Range Plan.

To help, we surveyed residents ages 12 and up who live, work or play in Lakewood.

This plan will help us guide and prioritize our investment in parks, facilities, programming and services for the next 10 years.

The long-range plan will:

  • Engage the Lakewood community in a variety of outreach channels to ensure the Plan reflects the needs of our residents.
  • Involve advisory boards and key leaders to inform decision-making.
  • Provide an overarching investment strategy that balances fiscal responsibility, sustainable management practices, unmet park system needs and evolving recreation trends.
  • Explore options for improvement, re-use, and/or expansion of the park and recreational system.
  • Establish directions to enhance our parks, recreation facilities, programs, events, and community services to support quality of life, health and wellness, community cohesion, safety, access and inclusivity.

Timeline

We anticipate completing the project in mid-2025.
